Welcome to Lowell High School > Departments > Student Support Services

The goal of the Lowell High School Guidance Department is to work closely with students and their parents or guardians to make programmatic decisions that prepare the student for appropriate post secondary education and career choices. The Guidance program has a developmental focus.  Counselors work with faculty and staff to encourage students to work to their potential, and to assist the students in setting short and long-term goals.  Our objectives include providing a wide-range of educational counseling services which will enable students to have a full spectrum of options that meet individual student needs and lead to success.

GUIDANCE SERVICES

Guidance Counselors work with students throughout the year to develop a comfortable working relationship and a perspective on the student’s growth and development. Students see their Counselors to deal with guidance issues such as program choices and changes, college and career choices and problem solving around academic issues.

Guidance Counselors also consult with parents, teachers, and administrators on issues related to learning styles, emotional needs and behavior. Guidance Counselors play a central role in the “Teacher Assistance Teams” (TAT), 504 and Special Education meetings that bring together a Team to problem solve and devise solutions that enable a student to achieve success in the classroom.

Guidance Counselors are available during high school hours to meet with parents and students.
