Chess Team Captures Championship
Yesterday, in a heart-pounding blitz tournament our Lowell High Chess team took the title of champion against Malden Catholic, Burlington, Bedford, Stoneham, and North Reading. Lowell, from the beginning, took an outstanding lead with victory after victory and it came down to our team's top five players: Captain Mario Rivera, Richard Prou, Kevin Le, Seophao Ly, and Sopehaktra Kong. All players were exceptionally matched and after tying two wins to two losses it came down to Richard Prou's game. Richard had one minute left on his time and with his cunning and skill he brought honor to LHS, winning and thus gaining the victory. Come support our chess team with our two fantastic cheerleaders and players Cindy Nguyen & Izzy Elias every home game, for information come after school in the cafe on tuesdays or contact Sergeant Smith in JROTC.
